learning, adapting, and always creating

I really can't recall a time when I wasn't wondering "how was that made?" I learned to sew, macrame, crochet and knit (in about that order) by the time I was 12.  In the 70's, I was the teen who embellished friends' jeans with personalized embroidery.  I filled my first home with hand-sewn details and needlepoint and embroidered accents while learning there was more to knitting than long rectangles. (Increases! decreases! yarn overs! sleeves! pockets! Who knew??) When my kids were young, I called my decorating style a cross between "arts and crafts" and "early childhood."

Once I ran out of people and windows to dress, I turned to painting in oils and later, pastels.  As my chicks flew the coop, a loom (and another and another) filled my empty nest, followed closely behind by a spinning wheel.  My weaving guild and other fiber friends have provided the inspiration to continue to try new things.  While weaving is my current all-consuming passion, I haven't ruled out studies in ceramics, beading and metal-work and ... who knows?
