wedding 2 weaving
Both my children are now happily married! My daughter married her long-time love on September 30, 2017. The reception venue, with its long farmhouse tables, just screamed for handwoven table runners, so of course, I took the challenge. After many trials (and errors), my daughter and I settled on a Bronson lace dogwood pattern for the 10+ table runners. The wedding colors were deep purple (aubergine) and blush. I found that UKI 10/2 cotton Wine Tone and Deep Purple mixed together matched the aubergine bridesmaids dresses, and that UKI Tea was a good match for the blush. I wove one blush before deciding with the bride that aubergine was the better color. I then wove 10 purple runners for a total of eleven 15"x120" table runners (woven to 18" x 132" before washing and shrinking). We then decided to use the blush runner for the sweetheart table. This may seem like a lot of work for one evening, but the runners will become gifts for the participants an a reminder of a lovely evening and wonderful beginning to married life for my daughter and son-in-law.
