wedding 2 weaving part 2

wedding 2 weaving part 2

Now that the groomsmen have their scarves, it's on to shawls for the bridesmaids.  At a weaving workshop this year, I wove a silk sample showing texture in plain weave.  Perfect!  An all-natural (ivory) shawl was just right for the bride, but the bridesmaids needed some color.  With my daughter's help, we settled on an ivory background of 30/2 silk with pale pink stripes in 5/2 and deep purple boucle stripes.  To get the color for the boucle, I hand-dyed the silk with the help of my friends at my local yarn store.  We tried dying the pink as well, but it became tangled after drying, so I substituted commercially dyed silk.  Best of all, the girls loved them!
