wedding weaving
My son and daughter-in-law were so organized and relaxed about their wedding that I was also able to relax and enjoy preparing for the day. What better way to participate than to weave! I knew I wanted to make scarves for my son's friends who would be his groomsmen. That morphed into shawls for the bridesmaids, a special scarf for the "bridesman" (my daughter-in-law's male attendant) and scarves for the groomsmen, ushers, reader and officiant. It was fun to find colors that coordinated with the wedding colors as well as yarns and designs appropriate for the event.
As it turned out, these gifts had a practical use as well. Just two days before the wedding, we had a major snowstorm, dropping 10 inches of snow in the area. The new snow made a beautiful clean backdrop for the wedding pictures, and although the wedding party wasn't outside much, their woven gifts were available to keep them warm.
