vive le tour!

vive le tour!

My husband is an avid cyclist, and through him, I've come to look forward to watching the Tour de France each July.  This year, for the first time, I did my own spinning along with the bikers in France, participating in my first Tour de Fleece! My local yarn shop formed a team, and I joined in, committing to spin (fiber) at least 30 minutes a day throughout the tour.

The result?  I'll give myself a yellow jersey - or maybe the white "rookie" jersey.  Although I didn't spin every day of the tour, I averaged much more than my planned 30 minutes per day.  I joined my "team" twice for Sunday Spin-ins at my LYS.  And - I finished some of my more challenging projects!  I've been working on some alpaca fleece for more than a year - finished!  I've had a gradient braid of wool for almost three years - finished!  (Fittingly, both of these fibers were purchased while accompanying my husband on bike trips as a non-cycling companion.) I also finished the leftover silk from my November spinning as well as a little East Friesian wool I purchased recently.  I even took my wheel on a couple of short get-aways so that I could keep up with my goals.  Best of all, I'm becoming a better spinner!
